If you have ever visited Hempstead or even have heard about it, then you will know that Hempstead is famous for two things, first world’s best watermelons coming from Hempstead, Texas and second the Annual Hempstead Watermelon Festival that takes place on the third Saturday in July.
The Watermelon Festival is suitable for whole family. Prior to the actual festival there is more entertainment and activities on Friday night. Festival starts with the Festival Parade and Watermelon Queen competition. Throughout the festival wide variety of vendors provides great food.
There are also some great live entertainments performed in the festival. You can always stop by and bid on auction items or visit one of many vendors if you are looking for that special gift. The Watermelon Festival features a variety of musical talent each year. There is also a great car show for people vintage and trick car enthusiasts. There are also competitions held for the largest watermelon. |
